Beef in short supply this month

Posted 3/7/2012 1:04pm by Sara Faivre-Davis.
As you may be aware, we are harvesting less cattle this year, due to last season’s drought-induced culling.  Through winter and spring, we are harvesting only enough cattle to cover our CSA needs, with little extra.  This month we are particularly short, so we are encouraging advance orders through our website.  I will be filling orders in the order they come in.  We will make whatever beef we have left available for sale at the Brazos market, Saturday.

Perhaps it is serendipitous for us to be short of beef this month.  We are finally ready to move into the house we’ve been building on the ranch, starting next week.  So, being short of beef, we will also have an abbreviated delivery schedule this month, to also facilitate our moving.  We will be making the Arboretum, Georgetown, Tillman and Brazos deliveries as usual, but no Round Rock, Sun City or Live Oak appearances this month

The delivery schedule is below:

Saturday, March 10, Brazos Farmer’s Market 8-noon Wm. J. Bryan and Texas Ave
Monday, March 12, Riata Bar and Grill (12221 Riata Trace Pkwy, Austin) 10:45-11:00
Monday, March 12; Arboretum-Brick Oven (Next to Jolleyville HEB) 11:20-11:45
Thursday, March 15; Tillman PT Delivery (2519 S. Lakeline Cedar Park) 12:45-1:15
Thursday, March 15; Georgetown (same location as the farmer’s market) 4:15-5:15 San Gabriel Park
By arrangement Thursdays at Dyer Dairy
Pickup is also available most times by arrangement at the ranch. Please call 512-826-2218 or e-mail sara@wildtyperanch.com to arrange.

Check out the Calendar page of the website for the most up-to-date schedule of markets and deliveries.

BRAZOS MARKET SATURDAY:  We will be at the Brazos market this coming Saturday.   Looks like we will have eggs and some beef.

REMEMBER TUPPERWARE? As we prepare to move into our new house, which was constructed with many 'green' features, it has renewed our commitment to lower our impact on the environment.  Reduce, reuse, recycle!  So, I am now selling Tupperware, as well as beef.  You can browse and order on-line through my personal page:  www.my.tupperware.com/sarafaivredavis.  Did you know that all Tupperware sold in the US is BPA-free?

OUR BEEF AT RETAIL:  Check out  the retail outlets that carry a selection of our beef.  If they don’t have what you want, just ask, and we’ll do our best to start stocking it.
  • Village Foods 1760 Briarcrest Drive, Bryan, carries our beef in a special freezer for “Natural Beef”, across from the fresh meat case.  Village Foods has been great about working with us and other local suppliers.
  • Dyer Mercantile (7801 E. Hwy. 29, Georgetown) carries our beef in the “Wild Type Ranch” freezer.  Regular hours are weekdays (except Wednesday) 10-7 pm , Saturdays 9 am-7 pm and Sundays 1 pm -6 pm.

TO ORDER: visit  our website  or e-mail beef@wildtyperanch.com .

See you at the market!

Sara, Ralph, Eric and Alex.
