We made the news!
I'm beginning to feel like we're local celebrities. Not only are we featured in this month's Edible Austin, we were the subject of the "Our Town" segment of KWTX's Sunday news (click here for clip). As a mom, my favorite part was the (unrehearsed) bit of an interview that with our eldest son, Eric.
It's nice to see local farmers and producers becoming newsworthy. All political questions about the necessity regulation and government programs aside, there is no doubt that the most effective way to bring change to the food and agriculture industry is through the individual actions of producers and demands of consumers.
SPECIAL, LIMITED STOCK: Based on customer requests, we are stocking a few new and hard-to-find items:
Beef fat/tallow: We have a single, 8.5 lb bag of beef fat from the inside of the abdominal wall. This fat can be rendered for cooking or used in soap making. $7.50 for the bag.
Kidney, Sweetbreads and Oxtail: $2.75/lb
Doggie Shank Bones: 6-12 inches, closely trimmed (no significant meat on them). Great for dogs or a rich source of marrow broth.
SATURDAY IS ROUND ROCK MARKET DAY: We'll be at the Round Rock Farmer's Market this Saturday from 8-noon. The market is bursting with vendors this time of year; fresh peaches, beans, tomatoes, bread and much more.
