July greetings to all our Wild Type Ranch customers...

We are back on deck after a month visiting family in Tasmania, Australia. It is winter there at the moment, with very short days, especially in Tasmania, so coming back to long, hot summer days has taken some adjusting to. However, it's all action-stations for our July beef delivery.

We have good stocks of beef for Eighth-packs and one Quarter-pack available for our July deliveries. The next beef Half is now able to be ordered, but will be available a little later in early August once it is processed. If you're thinking about it, don't leave it too long to order as there is only one half available. It will need a $250 deposit to secure it.

As described in our last couple of emails, we have decided that the $250 deposit is no longer needed for the eighth and quarter packs. Cash, check or credit card at delivery is fine, or PayPal to beef@wildtyperanch.com before delivery.

For those customers who don't have freezer space for an eighth, or just want to try the beef before ordering an eighth pack, we have put together a Sampler Pack. This is approximately 18 pounds of beef with a wide variety of cuts. The cost is $175, which is around $9.72 per pound. There are two available this month.

We have some additional stock of our delicious ground beef, and have made the ten-packs available again while those stocks last. A maximum of two ten-packs can be ordered with any other beef order.

Eggs can also be ordered with a beef order, just like the breakfast pan sausage that we have brought back due to popular demand via the "Extras" box right there on the eighths/quarters/halves page.

We have a well-stocked freezer with our beef at The Mercantile at Dyer Dairy near Georgetown should anyone need supplies from that region. We also stock a range of our products at Village Foods and Pharmacy in Bryan.

After the forth-coming July deliveries (see below), the following beef deliveries will be in September, tentatively Saturday 15th for Brazos and Tuesday 18th for Austin, Georgetown and Round Rock.

April greetings to all our Wild Type Ranch customers...

Spring has sprung and some days are starting to feel quite summery. A gorgeous variety of Texas wildflowers are abundant and colorful. All else is lovely and green here at the ranch, with happy cows getting fat on the rich natural feed in our pastures.

At the moment we have good stocks of beef for Eighth-packs and one Quarter-pack available for our May deliveries. The next beef Half is available in July. If you're thinking about it, don't leave it too long to order as there is only one half available. It will need a $250 deposit to secure it.

We have plenty of farm-fresh, free-range yard eggs, with our fully free-range chickens starting to produce a lot of eggs. For this month only we will add one dozen eggs to your order as a free bonus gift to say 'Thanks' for your support.

Hello to all our Wild Type Ranch customers...

We hope that 2018 is going well for you and that you've been able to avoid this flu season that has knocked so many folk about. It's great that we have seen more interest in our grass-fed beef bones as folk realize the value/benefits of bone broth, especially when recovering from the flu. We make a lot of bone broth at Wild Type Ranch and can see the benefits from using it regularly. So, for this month only, we will add a free bag of bones (usual price $10) to any order. See 'bags of bones' for information, but don't order it unless you want more than the one free bag.

At the moment we have good stocks of beef for Eighth-packs but the next quarter-pack and beef-half will be available in May, as the March ones have already sold. Sorry!

We have plenty of farm-fresh free-range yard eggs, with our fully free-range chickens starting to produce a lot of eggs. For this month only we will supply two dozen eggs for $6, which is $1 per dozen off the regular price. These can only be ordered with a beef order, just like the summer sausage and liver via the "Extras" box there on the eighths/quarters/halves page.

Hello to all our Wild Type Ranch customers...

We hope that you all had a wonderful festive and holiday season. Happy New Year! Wow 2018... The years sure tick by at quite a rate!

Austin, Round Rock and Georgetown deliveries are scheduled for every two months. So, as per our website calendar, the next scheduled delivery to the Austin area is to be on Tuesday, January 23rd. (See below for details.)

Bryan and College Station customers can meet our delivery vehicle at the Brazos Valley Farmer's Market on Saturday, January 20th. (See below for details.)

Temple customers, please place your order and we will coordinate with you personally regarding delivery at a mutually useful time and place.

BCS customers also have the opportunity to meet with us when we deliver beef to Village Foods and Pharmacy in Bryan (by email arrangement on those days). Village Foods carries much of our range of beef. These deliveries are not typically scheduled much more than a few days ahead and will not be on the website calendar. A visit to BCS can be about every 10 to 14 days. Of course, anyone can pick up beef at the ranch by arrangement; simply email to beef@wildtyperanch.com and we can make it happen.

Hello to all our Wild Type Ranch customers...

We hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that preparations for the Christmas holiday season are going smoothly. Sadly, it is already the end of November and the year is nearly over. The years sure tick by at quite a rate!

As discussed last month, we are looking at deliveries to Austin, Round Rock and Georgetown being every two months. So, as per our website calendar, the next scheduled delivery is to be on January 22nd.

Bryan and College Station customers have the opportunity to meet with us when we deliver beef to Village Foods and Pharmacy in Bryan (or by arrangement on those days). Village Foods carries much of our range of beef. These deliveries are not typically scheduled much more than a week ahead, but a visit to BCS can be about every ten days. Of course, you can pick up beef at the ranch by arrangement; simply email here.

Hello to all our Wild Type Ranch customers...

Temperatures are finally dropping and the summer grass is browning off. The winter rye-grass will soon be appearing, and in the interim we will start making sure that there is enough food for our animals by giving them some of the beautiful hay that we harvested from our property earlier in the year. The cattle look great and love the cooler temperatures. We had a beautiful little red heifer born a few weeks ago, just missing the summer heat.

At the moment we have good stocks of beef for Eighth-packs and quarter-packs, but sadly the next half-beef will be available in March next year. Anyone wanting a beef-half prior to then should contact us here at beef@wildtyperanch.com.

Unless there is a significant demand in December, the November deliveries will be the last for this year as we transition to deliveries every two months.

So after November, the next Austin and Round Rock deliveries will be in January and every two months from then on.

Hello to all our Wild Type Ranch customers...

Ralph is currently in Australia, or Tasmania to be more exact, but will be back in Texas for beef deliveries on the 25th, 26th, and 31st of October. See below for details.

We have had to take some difficult business decisions over the past few months, and have attempted to tailor our beef retail effort into something that is as streamlined as is possible, due to the bulk of the work being carried out by Ralph. He carries the uncomfortable legacy of a serious accident five years ago that severely damaged his spine and rib-cage. Recent scans indicate that it is not going to get better as he ages, so we can't have anything particularly labor intensive in our operation, hence the move from CSA packs to eighths, quarters and halves.

For those customers who don't have freezer space for an eighth, or just want to try the beef before ordering an eighth pack, we have put together a Sampler Pack. This is around 18 pounds of beef with a wide variety of cuts. Its cost is $175, which is around $9.72 per pound.

Currently, we have ample supplies, with Eighth-packs, quarters, some ten-packs of ground beef, we have three Value packs left, and a few other individual items available with a beef order. There is a beef half available for November. The next one after that will be in March next year, as the January half has been spoken for.

We also have some standing rib roasts available for Thanksgiving or Christmas, but they are not available on the website. Please email here if you want one and we will get back to you with the options. Two are larger, (around 7 pounds), two are smaller (around 4.5 pounds). they are $17.50 per pound.

Greetings Wild Type Ranch customers...

Ralph is returning to Australia to spend time with his two sons and two grand-children, and he will be away from the 10th of September, through to the 23rd of October.

We have had some logistical issues to deal with and feel that we can not reliably deliver to our customers while he is away, so here are some proposed options. Please note, that after these deliveries noted below, the next deliveries will be October 25 and 26.

Ralph will be delivering beef to Village Foods in Bryan on Tuesday, September 5th between 11:30 AM and mid-day, so he can meet there with any customers who care to place an order.

Likewise, he will be delivering to The Mercantile at Dyer Dairy in Georgetown on Wednesday, September 6th at around 10:00 AM and can meet with customers there. If there is sufficient interest, he will deliver to Round Rock and the Arboretum on that day, planning to deliver at around the normal time. But please don't place an order just yet!

What we need is for you to do is to respond to this email, or email here, at beef@wildtyperanch.com and let us know what your needs are and what you would like to order. Please indicate where you need the delivery to be. If there is enough interest to warrant running a vehicle to Austin, we will do so, and at that point will respond with an email asking you to order from our website as normal. Please don't leave this to the last minute!

Temple customers, please email your needs and we will deal with them individually as needed.

Greetings Wild Type Ranch customers...

Things are sure heating up, with triple digit temps. Rain, if it does happen, is increasingly unlikely to make too much of a difference to the drying evident on the pastures, although we might be lucky later this week with precipitation from some storm activity and cooler temperatures. Fingers crossed!

Happily we are in good shape with good stands of grass in our pastures, and have hay available if there is a need to add a little more feed. This year's crop of calves are growing beautifully, they look happy and content, despite the heat. Having clean water available, and lots of shade is the key here. They rest up during the heat, then graze when it is cooler.

Every year Ralph returns to Australia to spend time with his two sons and two grand-children. This year is no different, and he will be away from the 10th of September, through much of October. As he won't be here to take a harvest animal in to the processors, we can't make a custom-cut half available in September. We will have eighths and quarters available.

Because of this, we have opened up August as an opportunity for you to stock up with beef. Eighths, quarters and a half are all available, along with a few ten-packs of ground beef, Variety and Value packs, and a few other individual items available with a beef order.

We have 'bags of bones' and farm fresh free-range yard eggs and a few other items such as summer sausage, pan sausage and liver, but these will only be available to those who make a beef order, as we can't run a delivery vehicle from the ranch for small orders. Greetings Wild Type Ranch customers...

Thanks to all of you who took advantage of the opportunity to redeem your CSA enrollment fee with your final CSA pack.

Now is the time consider your current beef inventory and requirements as we move to providing 45 pound beef eighth packs, 90 pound beef quarters and beef halves.

These will be available every second month starting this month. These packs are already proving popular with only eighths left for July. There are also some Variety and Value packs available this month. Whether we continue with these will depend on demand.

For those who wish to purchase any of these other items without a beef purchase, the issue is delivery, not the purchase, so please email us here at beef@wildtyperanch.com, let us know your needs, and we'll try our best to accommodate you. You can always pick up from the ranch if you feel like visiting with us.

For those CSA customers who have bought eight or more CSA packs over time (completed the CSA agreement) but did not redeem their enrollment fee with a CSA pack over the past three months, we will apply your enrollment fee as part of your deposit on an eighth pack, quarter or half beef if you order between now and December 31st, 2017.

Those customers who have bought CSA packs in the past twelve months but have not yet bought eight packs, we will pro-rate your enrollment fee as a part of your deposit on your next order. This offer will also end on December 31st, 2017. 

Those who have not completed the purchase of eight CSA packs as per the agreement at enrollment, and have not purchased beef from us during the past twelve months have abandoned the program/agreement and the enrollment fee is forfeited.

We plan to continue to deliver beef to the current distribution points every second month. Email us if you need an eighth or quarter held back and delivered in the interim. We will try to assist. Ralph is in Bryan/College Station most weeks, so can help there, although he will be unavailable from mid-September to end of October.
