Wild Type Ranch is offering a fall internship in regenerative livestock production and direct marketing. Interns will participate in farm operations, including all aspects of our pastured livestock production (broilers, layers, sheep and hogs), marketing and farm maintenance.
WHAT YOU’LL DO AND LEARN: Wild Type Ranch is a busy livestock and direst-to-consumer farming operation, requiring flexibility, problem solving and teamwork skills. Applicants should be prepared to work hard, including but not limited to the following tasks: handling and tending livestock, staffing the farmers market stall, contributing to marketing and social media,, operating machinery and assisting with repairs and improvements.
All three partners, Sara, Justin and Brian, have teaching in their blood and are eager to nurture emerging farmers. You will learn about soil health, natural animal husbandry and holistic management practices, including financial, physical, mental and spiritual health. You will also gain experience in marketing, sales and branding.
SCHEDULE: Interns should expect a flexible approximately 40 hour week, with at least one full day off per week. Some early morning, evenings and weekends will be part of the rotating schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS: A positive, team-oriented attitude is a must, valid driver’s license and insurance, able to lift a 50-pound bag of grain onto your shoulder unassisted, able to follow directions. Interns will always need their hands and minds on the job to ensure safety; strictly no drugs or alcohol while on the job. Mechanical aptitude a plus, but not required.
BENEFITS: Interns will receive a weekly stipend in the range of $100-250/week; determined by incoming skill set and housing needs. Lunch will be provided on workdays. Partial or full board is available, in the family home. Interns will also receive farm products with a value of $100-200 per month.
